Eye Shadow Tips and Tricks

Colorful Eye Shadow:  A jewel-toned eye shadow looks especially beautiful and glamorous at night.  Consider violet, green, gold, aqua or even hot pink for a radical pop.  Press this color onto the center of youor lid for a pop of bright color.

 Tips and Advice: Eye Shadow

1. Coordinate your eyeshadow to go with your eye and hair color rather than the color of your clothes. Eyeshadow is not intended to match your wardrobe colors.

------------------------------

2. Decide ahead if you want to use one, two, or three different eyeshadow colors at once. The colors should get progressively lighter going from the lid to the brow bone.

------------------------------

3. Choose your main color (the color you want to stand out the most) and use short strokes to cover your whole eyelid. Apply just enough pressure to lay the color down without caking it onto your lids. Be especially careful not get too close to the crease or your eyebrows. Apply a lighter eyeshadow color above your primary color and below your eyebrow. You should be able to cover the entire area in one sweep.

------------------------------

4. For blue eyes and blond hair the best looking eyeshadow colors are violets and lavenders. Use the violet on the lid and in the crease of the eyelid. Use the lighter color lavender above the crease to the eyebrow bone. Soft browns and tans with sandy or pink/lavender undertones also look very good with blue eyes.

5. Wear khaki and brown shades with yellow undertones for green eyes.

------------------------------

6. Accent dark brown and black eyes with brown and charcoal shadows.

7. Correcting a Mistake If you try a new color pattern on your eyes and you can´t imagine going out with it looking that way there is a way to correct it without taking off all your makeup. All you need to do is dip a cotton swab in your liquid eye makeup remover and very gently take off your eye makeup with the swab. Take your time and use as many swabs as necessary (it may take several). This also is great for taking off your eyeliner at the end of the day. A cotton swab allows you to be more precise in the area you are working with.

8. Frost or matte? The frosted shadows might have looked good when you were twenty, but if you´ve developed even a hint of wrinkles around the eyes, drop the frosts. Use a tiny bit of matte in a neutral color. Frosts only highlight the tops of the wrinkles, making them stand out more and become more noticeable.

 9. Even Eyeshadow Base before you apply your eyeshadow, take a translucent loose powder and brush it over your eyelid area. It will help the colors appear more vibrant!

------------------------------

10. Close set eyes To make your close set eyes appear not so close apply your darker eyeshadow on the outer portion of your eye. Bring your lighter shadow near your nose. This will give the illusion of your eyes being set further apart.

------------------------------

11. Far set eyes To make your eyes appear closer set, apply your darker shadow towards your nose and use lighter shades on the outer portion of your eye. This gives the illusion that your eyes are closer set.

12. Tips for Younger Looking Eyes When applying eye makeup to make your eyes look younger, first apply a little eye cream on the brow bone and under the eye to reduce fine lines. Dab on a skin tone-matching concealer. Line the eye with white pencil beneath the lash line for larger, brighter eyes. If your eyes look crepey, stay away from bright colors. Soft-colored eye cosmetics are more flattering and less aging.
